Using gels for a fun twist on your photoshoot

Gels are thin, translucent squares that can be added to studio lights to add color to a photograph. Depending on how the colors are used, they can create all kinds of different effects. Below you can see a few samples from a recent photoshoot with Katie.

Here’s purple as the main color, with red in the shadows and a bit of yellow on the background:

Next, we have red as the main color. In this case, although there are other colors adding to the mix, red is very dominant.

Here, orange is the dominant color with reds and yellows in the shadows.

And finally, we have yellow as the dominant color with orange in the shadows and subtle red on the highlights, visible in Katie’s hair and on the right side of her shoulder.

There is no charge to incorporate gels into your photoshoot; sometimes we just like to have fun, experiment with different combinations, and see what happens! If you’re in the Tulsa area, schedule your own boudoir shoot in minutes using our online reservation system; you can choose from a variety of add-ons for your shoot, including the silver metallic paint Katie is wearing!
