Photo of the week: September 28, 2021

This week’s photo was a one-off, a lucky shot that pleasantly surprised me during editing.

Why it’s awesome

This photo was from a recent shoot with Katie - which happened to be my first try combining full-coverage metallic body paint and gels. The primary light is purple, with red in the shadows (noticeable along the right side of the photo) and subtle yellow along the edges (camera right).

But what really makes this photo pop is the shadow being cast by Katie’s arm; along with her lipstick, it creates a dramatic effect that, I fully admit, was pure luck. Katie was simply flowing through her poses, and just happened to nail this perfect shot. One of the most fun parts of a photoshoot is simply being creative and trying out ideas; sometimes the ideas don’t work out, but many times they come together at just the right moment to create a truly stunning and unique image!

If you’d like to add metallic paint and/or gels (colored light) to your boudoir photoshoot, you have lots of different options. Metallic paint comes in gold, bronze, copper, silver, or lavender. Gels can be added to your shoot at no charge, and come in a big variety of colors for tons of possibilities.

If you’re in or visiting the Tulsa area, we’d love to shoot with you. You can book your own photoshoot online in minutes using our website’s reservation system, and then we can get started crafting the photoshoot of your dreams!
